Hurricane Katrina

August 29, 2005

Pretty much the house has been gutted and drying out for the past 2 1/2 months. So what next? Might as well start from the ground up. Since the carpet was trashed and the tile underneath was crap, new flooring would have to go down. The doors were old and the interior doors are hollow and had water and mold in them so they all had to be replaced. The electrical wiring sucked, and all the receptacles were under salt water so they had to be replaced. The house had some old wiring that was scary looking, and they had used white, black and red conductors. So it wasn't up to code. Green is ground, White is neutral and the black is the hot wire. So it all came out and all new 12 gauge wire was installed, and the new power panel was moved out of the dining room to the computer room.
