Hurricane Katrina
August 29, 2005

So anyway the house is a stinking mess. everything in it is trashed, for the most part. But there
is something else that has to be done. Well you can only imagine right? Well since the walls and carpet were wet
and black mold was growing on everything, they have to go right? Yes it does - sheetrock falls apart when it gets
wet like that and it stinks and gets moldy. So yup... you have to
GUT THE HOUSE!!!
Oh yeah, first, everything needs come out of the house. Since its trashed anyway, just toss it out into the front yard. Right?! No-one would take that nasty stuff right? And all the neighbors for blocks and blocks all around you are doing the same thing, that is if they have returned yet from evacuating. They have nasty stuff too. Some asshole stole our cedar coffee table off the carport. I could have saved that one. But I hope they catch some flesh eating disease or something incurable and spread it to their sorry thief friends and they all die a very slow, painful, gut wrenching, sad, miserable lonely death. But I'm not bitter. Sad that someone thought they needed it more than I did, and they took it after the worst natural disaster in Americas history. Assholes.
One more disgusting thing before you go to the next page. This is nastier than the freezer. There is one fact of life that you have to accept. There is no shortage of those big roach bug things in Mississippi. The locals call them tree roaches. They are everywhere, no matter how sanitary your house is. We might see one or two every now and then, usually after it rains. They must not like to get wet. When the ground gets covered with 4 feet of water they will try to get where its dark and dry it seems. When the nasty sheet rock came off the wall, Holy shit! There were hundreds of them in the walls! Now that's nasty. We set off at least a dozen bug bombs, closed the house and let them die... too bad the asshole thiefs didnt come back and break in... that would have been poetic justice. But I think I have only seen 1 or 2 of the bug things since then and its been almost a year. Not to mention the fact that the inside of the walls were sprayed down with what seemed like straight bleach!
