Hurricane Katrina

August 29, 2005

Anyway on Wednesday I finally able to get out of the shelter. We were paired up with a buddy and allowed to go and check out our homes. We weren't supposed to go alone because there was no power, no water, no gas and lots of cars had been damaged or destroyed. There were rumors about people looting, car jackings etc., also about "squatters" people just walking in and living in houses where the owners had evacuated. Desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose. So went to Jim's house first - he lived closer. His house was ok - a few branches down and a couple trees in the yard, but his house was ok. He grabbed his 9 mm's, extra clips and a box of ammo and we headed across town to my house. Can't be too careful ya know. (he took them so in case someone broke into his house, ; ) - so they wouldn't get stolen.

It was slow going to my house, dodging downed trees and debris and a house that was
in the road. A lot of trees and power poles with dangling wires that were down on my street...

again - so much to say but let the images do the talking...

At least the trees fell away from the house ----->

Both pine trees were 60 ft tall from what I remember.

The the whole tree line along the edge of the yard took out the power lines, cable and phone lines

 grrrrrrrrrr NOOOOOO!!!!!

THIS SUCKS!

 @#$%$$#$*^&$# : (

3 - 4 feet of salt water from the Back Bay in the house - in the car!!!

THIS REALLY SUCKS!!!

More to come.... wait until you see the inside of the house.
