Hurricane Katrina

August 29, 2005

Feb 16 2006 5 1/2 months after the storm slammed into the coast. We moved back into the house as most of the repairs are done. There are still some things that need to be done.

5 1/2 months. As you can see, there has been alot of work done in the house. I think it turned out pretty nice. Now that the house is pretty much done, all I need now is for some stuff to put back into it. Funny... I said we moved back into the house. What did we really have to move back into it?! We did had one of those PODS and we had some stuff in it. It was on base in a parking lot. The military got a whole bunch of them for people to store stuff. As luck would have it... mine got flooded the Christmas eve. Great huh? But I don't think anything was damaged as most of it was in those rubber containers. Besides it was only about an inch of water.

After we moved back into the house, I noticed that the downstairs plumbing wasn't working like it was suppose to. Time to investigate. I dug up the back yard, suspecting that there was old cast iron pipes. This is what I found. So I put some of those plumbing skills to work. Yes, I used to work in a plumbing shop, doing new construction plumbing, so this was an easy task.
