Hurricane Katrina

August 29, 2005

I do have some other pictures from around town. Some of these make me feel lucky. In some of them, people lost everything, including their lives... NO, I am not showing dead people. It pisses me off to no end that all the news reports and articles talk about New Orleans and other areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. The more than 70 miles of the MS Gulf coast was hit harder than New Orleans was. Sure it sucks for them, but the REAL devastation was all in Mississippi. That is a rant I'm not going to get into right now. Just some of the pics I took around town, most are within a mile or two of my house... My house is about 3/4 mile from the beach and 5 streets from the back bay of Biloxi. So, I do feel fortunate.

25 people died in this condo. It's along 90 on the beach. I think most of them drown when the 25 foot waves came crashing in to it.

What's left of the Ocean Springs Bridge.

(A year later and it still looks this way.)

The Palace Casino barge sank. It still hasn't opened back up.

This is all over the place. All the crap stuck in the trees.

(It is still this way almost a year later.)

The storm surge took out houses, business you name it.

There were alot of damaged cars, many were flipped over, stacked on top of each other... and some were just unrecognizable.

Debris everywhere. Too bad this Custom VW bus was destroyed.

Nothing but slabs.

Alot of the houses along the beach were washed through by the storm surge, or were completely washed away. This one is a block in from U.S. 90, which runs along the beach.
