The backgrounds on these two pics are nasty! They started out as a powerpoint slide and then I turned them into a .jpg with photoshop. The pics will load alot faster this way and less work to do! BTW those arent individual thumbnails ... there is only 2 pics on this page with link hotspots built in. Actually the pics are about 50k apiece and will load quicker that a whole lot of different thumbnails. Ok enough about webpage construction and back to the beetle construction!
I was trying to get the pieces in the right place but they just didnt want to fit exactly like I wanted them to. There is a gap in the back of the heater channel. This is because the way the old sheet metal overlapped, but thats not a problem as I will put in a small piece to cover up this gap. I also have a small bit of rust in the lower quarter panel to patch up. So I ended up bolting the bottom piece into place and I jacked the floor pan up to the body to check on the bolt alignment. Then I clamped everything into place and started to weld. The back is mostly done and I have to finish welding in the front. But everything is still supported by the jack and just about every clamp and vise grip pliers i have!
