OK... So what's the latest on the 69? Not a whole hell of alot. For the most part it sits waiting for something to be done to it. It has been waiting for 1 year for any further progress, 2 years for the other heater channel.
| Looks the same as it did 2 years ago, but wait! the background has changed. Yeah it has. and
she isn't in the garage.... yeah right what garage. I dont have one anymore. That sucks. But my new house is
twice the size. I moved last year, so I had to put it all back together. She does have a new front beam. that is the last thing i did to the car before I moved in July 2003. It is now July 2004. |
|
| So I had to move. The '69 HAD to be put back together so it could be towed 700 miles. So I bolted everything down tight. Boxed up all my parts and tools and put them in the car. I bought 2 towbars. and we dragged both the '66 and the '69 across the heat of Texas, across Louisiana and halfway across Mississippi. It was a slow trip, but both cars made the trip ok...well for the most part. | |
| Yes the '69 got some road rash. Somewhere in Louisiana along I-10 in the middle of the night, a blown out semi
tire was in the road and it got kicked up and did this damage to the front fender and running board OUCH! I can fix it. It didn't do any other damage that I could see, except it ripped the knock off out of the center of the rim. |
|
| My bad... I had some stuff on my new floor pans and some rain water has gotten in and rusted some bare metal pieces I had sitting on the floor....probably from the bad door seal or from the fresh airbox drain that isn't hooked up... DUH. But it is only surface rust. I can fix that too. | |
| El cheapo bumpers. This is what happens to them. They arent really worth a damn. You have to keep them waxed, but bottom line the cheap ones WILL rust. This is only one year and look at them. But I knew that when I bought them. Remember, when I bought this car 7 years ago it didn't have any bumpers. Yeah - it doesn't help that it sits outside in this damn humid weather. | |
| Parts, parts and more parts. I have a doghouse fan shroud, the original seat rails, the battery replacement panel
for the '66 and a ton of other parts stored inside. along with 4 jackstands, I did have my 3.5 ton jack in there
but I took it out as I needed it. One other thing about the move... the drivers side rear hub is loose. I torqued the nut downand put in the cotter pin, but it must have seated its self during the 700 mile trip. So it needs to be re-torqued.... think I will check the other side also. |
